AP® 2-D Design Portfolio n
This class is designed for dedicated college-bound students with a serious interest in art who wish to receive AP college credit. It is highly recommended that you have previously completed Art Foundations, as well as multiple Art II classes.
This class is for the individual who wishes to receive AP college credit. This course is designed with the rigor of a college level class and should only be taken if you are serious about pursuing art or design on the college level.
This class consists of further investigation of various forms of expression and techniques using the principles and elements of design. You will develop mastery in concept, composition and execution.
You will be introduced to new artists, techniques and concepts to help you create works that express your spirit and vision. Through exploration you will be able to develop a body of work that reflects a range of problem solving, ideation, and develops versatility with techniques to demonstrate your abilities.
We will research, keep art journals, have class critiques, individual critiques, and artistic dialogues that hopefully will inspire you as you create.
There are project requirements, but the projects are open-ended so you can develop your own style and mode of expression. The development of the portfolio is an ongoing process that uses informed and critical decision making to assemble a body of work.
Work is expected to be of the highest caliber conceptually and technically. Artistic integrity should play a roll in your portfolio development. Work based on another artistʼs work or photos must move beyond mere duplication and become an expression of your own personal voice and vision. Through discussions and selected readings, students will be made aware of what plagiarism is and what it encompasses in regard to the making of art. https://meet.google.com/lookup/ddvzgov7e5

Expectations and Consequences:
Students will produce a minimum of 15 works that satisfy the requirements of the AP® Studio 2D Design Portfolio.
I expect everyone to be in their seat when the bell rings so that attendance can be taken and we can get to work. If you are not in the classroom, in your seat, when the bell rings you will be counted tardy/absent. I realize that on many days it might take the entire period to do what you need to do; however, if you are in your seat and ready to go when the bell rings I can quickly take roll and you can get started.
